Developed by Atari, Pong is notable for countless reasons, chiefly its introduction of video game technology to the masses in the 1970s. The simple tennis-esque arcade game has even been adopted by Google and is the basis for the new Google Chrome Cube Slam tech demo. Updated with a wintery snow-covered landscape and cutesy graphics, the new multiplayer game showcases Google’s WebRTC technology for Chrome – which Google hopes to bring to mobile devices in the near future – and allows users to share webcam video and microphone audio without the need for plug-ins. Check out the little video demo above and head on over to Cube Slam‘s dedicated web page to try it out for yourself. If for some reason you can’t find a frenemy to destroy, you can take on Google Ursine Diversion Division’s very own mascot Bob the Bear. [via]
