In 1982, sculptor Keith Jennings began a project in his backyard. Listening to the trees, Keith carves faces into them revealing the tree's inner spirit. Jennings was also commissioned to sculpt a series of trees on St. Simons Island off the coast of the state of Georgia. Keith says that each face that he carves is unique to the tree, "I don't
have that much to do with it. The wood speaks to you, ya know?"
