I came across a couple of videos documenting how skateboards are made. I realized that 2 of these videos displayed drastically different methods of production. In this video skate legend Rodney Mullen narrates and walks us through the process that creates Almost brand skateboards. Although still an extremely laborious process, much of the "would be" manual labor is executed by machines and thus, produces a higher volume of skateboards.
This video demonstrates the more hands on/ low volume approach. Although the craftsman is still being assisted by some basic tools and machines, this process is a more hands on, one at a time, DIY appoach. The end product in both methods is great skateboard decks. It reminds me that there's always more than one way to go about things.
