My Modern Met:
Katie Perry has ditched the colored hair and the crazy outfits for the latest edition of Vogue. The July issue features the incredibly glamorous singer/songwriter dressed in everything from a lovely Valentino lace gown to a gorgeous Zac Posen strapless dress. As Vogue states, "Leaving pop novelty and broken hearts behind her, this is Katy Perry as you’ve never seen her."
Shot by none other than Annie Leibovitz, 28-year-old Perry has never looked so stunning. She also looks so natural, it's hard to believe that it's the very first time she's gracing the cover of Vogue. You can read a lengthy article about Perry where it goes into detail about her busy schedule, her rocky relationship with Russell Brand, and her strict childhood. The best part? When she discusses her insecurities.
As Vogue asked, "Does she never get fazed by the massive machine she runs?"
“Of course I get fazed,” she says patiently. “And when I am in between records, sometimes I doubt myself. I’ll be like: Did I just get lucky, or did I mass-manipulate the world into thinking that seven songs were worth a number-one position? And then I go back into the studio and I start writing, and the true essential oil of who I am comes bubbling back up and reminds me that it’s always been inside of me, that nobody can take this away no matter what comment anyone makes. It’s going to be there because it’s what I was born with and it’s what I’ve worked on my whole life.”
